An All-Out Assault on Chronic Disease by Vitamin D
by Ladd McNamara, M.D.
“D Day,” a term used to designate the day of a combat operation, such as the one occurring on June 6, 1944; when the allied British and American forces stormed the beaches of Normandy during World War 2. Okay, so this may be a bit dramatic to compare a combat assault to vitamin D fighting chronic disease, but you may be surprised how powerful and important vitamin D actually is. Particularly so when 4 out of 5 people are significantly deficient in vitamin D.
You will learn how vitamin D is associated with the reduced risk of MANY CHRONIC DISEASES, as well as what your OPTIMAL BLOOD LEVEL should be, the Approximate Ideal Dose you should Take, and the Safety of High-Dose vitamin D.
Vitamin D Helps to Reduce the Risk of Many Chronic Diseases
Vitamin D deficiency is associated with osteoporosis, bone fracture, muscle fatigue, many cancers (particularly breast and colon), autoimmune disease, obesity, insulin insensitivity and/or diabetes, schizophrenia, depression, asthma, allergies, lung dysfunction, influenza, kidney disease, and high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke! During pregnancy and infancy vitamin D insufficiency is also associated with preeclampsia (pregnancy-induced hypertension), low birth weight, neonatal hypocalcemia (low blood calcium), poor postnatal growth, bone fragility, and increased incidence of autoimmune diseases and childhood asthma.
There is no debate in the medical community that there is a vitamin D deficiency epidemic that is causing a myriad of problems, and that people need to be supplementing with much higher doses than the traditionally-recommended dose of 400 IU per day. It's clear that we should be supplementing with at least 2000 IU/day, if not 4000 IU/day or higher.
